Innovia Films has expanded its commitment to sustainable materials by launching a new production line for eco-friendly films at its Schkopau facility near Leipzig, Germany. This development is a significant step in the company’s ‘Better Future’ initiative, which focuses on advancing green materials through innovative materials science.

The innovative 8.8-meter-wide production line can manufacture films ranging from 15 to 50 microns (µm) in thickness, with an impressive annual output of 35,000 tons. The newly produced films will cater to various applications, including pressure-sensitive face stock films for labels and flexible packaging solutions designed for mono-material retort structures, among other environmentally conscious products.

“In addition to that, the LISIM technology is significantly more energy efficient than other extrusion technologies for BOPP film, which, of course, leads to an overall smaller carbon footprint of the finished product itself,” said Innovia Films Schkopau general manager Giuseppe Ronzoni.
