Chhaava box office collection day 36: Even as Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava continues to polarise audiences, it is also holding on to the theatrical footfalls like very few Hindi films have done in the recent past. On its 36th day in the theatres, Chhaava held on to seven digit collections amassing Rs 2.1 crore. However, this has been the lowest the film has collected since its release on February 14. In comparison, Pushpa 2: The Rule made Rs 4.35 crore on the fifth Friday of its release. The domestic nett collection of Chhaava now stands at Rs 574.95 crore, and the worldwide numbers are Rs 773.25 crore.

It is impressive how Chhaava manages to hold over 10 percent occupancy despite running for over a month. The film had an overall 12.91 percent occupancy for its Hindi version, and 14.61 percent occupancy for its Telugu version. Although the Telugu version started strongly, it has gradually tapered over the week, and the majority collections is still coming from the Hindi version, which continues to break into new ground.

With its current numbers, Chhaava is firmly in the list of Top 10 Indian movies (nett collection), and is just Rs 23 crores short of Stree 2’s numbers. Chhaava, which is the biggest blockbuster of 2025, is the third biggest Hindi film after Jawan and Stree 2, if we exclude films like Baahubali 2, RRR, KGF 2, Kalki 2898 AD and Pushpa 2 which also released in many other languages. Considering there is one more week of uninterrupted run, the Chhaava juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down. However, its first big challenge comes in the form of Salman Khan-AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar. The film, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, will hit the screens on March 30.

What really puts a dent to Chhaava’s golden run is the recent spate of violence in Nagpur, which has been attributed to the impact of the Laxman Utekar film. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis blamed the film and said, “The emotions of people are overflowing and they are showing anger against Aurangzeb. Despite this, we must show restraint. Maharashtra is getting investment, and we will get it if we manage to keep law and order. I warn everyone that anyone who will disturb the law and order will not be spared.”

Incidentally, Chhaava received quite the support from many, including PM Narendra Modi. The film is based on the life of Chhatrapathi Sambhaji Maharaj, played by Vicky, who wages a valiant war against Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, played by Akshaye Khanna.
