Brierley Hill driver arrested after ‘blowing three times over legal drinking limit’

The driver was arrested after being made to take a breath test on the side of the road

A ‘reckless’ driver has been arrested after police said he blew three times over the legal drinking limit.

Officers said they spotted a vehicle driving “recklessly” through Brierley Hill in Dudley.

The male driver was immediately pulled over by police.

He was then ordered to take a breath test on the side of the road.

West Midlands Police said the driver blew a reading of 111 – more than three times over the legal drinking limit.

Brierley Hill Police shared information about the incident on social media platform X this afternoon, February 27.

It did not specify exactly when or where the incident happened.

The force said: “We sighted a vehicle driving recklessly through Brierley Hill.

“We stopped it, and spoke with the driver who provided a sample of breath.

“He provided a shocking reading of 111 and was arrested.”

The legal drinking limit when behind the wheel of a car is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Those caught driving over the limit can face jail time, a driving ban and an unlimited fine.
