A woman in Bengaluru called off her daughter’s wedding after the groom arrived drunk at the venue and attempted to stir a ruckus along with his friends. According to a social media post by @news.for.india, the groom also misbehaved during the rituals.
The now-viral video shows the bride’s mother, with folded hands, requesting the groom and his family to leave. One of the attendees is seen trying to convince her to let go. However, she continues to ask them to return. “Abhi se aise tevar hain, toh aage apni beti ke bhavishya ka kya hoga (If this is his conduct now, what will happen to our daughter’s future?),” she is heard saying in the video.
According to a report by ABP News, the breaking point for the bride’s family was when the inebriated groom threw away the aarti ki thali.

Many on social media praised the woman for her decision. “She saved her daughter from a likely alchoholic,” a user reacted to the video. “Takes guts to stand up for your daughter when there’s financial burdens and societal judgements to be considered due to a canceled wedding. Few hours of discomfort and stress is better than ruining a precious human’s life!” another user commented.
“I think she did the best thing for her daughter. If he is a drunk and behaved barely on wedding day there is probably a chance he is going to that person forever,” a third user wrote. “Brave decision of a Mother before its too late,” another commented.
In 2019, a bride in Uttar Pradesh cancelled her wedding after the groom arrived late at the venue. According to reports, the incident occurred in Bijnor’s Nangal Jat village and the woman married another man the same week.
