Bride sparks fierce debate after insisting her bridesmaids start their wedding hair and makeup at 4am

Weddings are a long day, and depending on how many people are in a bridal party the festivities can begin well before the sun even rises.

A recent TikTok from one bride-to-be left viewers aghast after she revealed her bridesmaids’ makeup would begin at 4am.

While some were horrified by the early call time, others claimed it was a show of true friendship.

‘How should I determine which bridesmaid gets their makeup done at 4am?’ 2025 bride Mia Moore asked in the clip.

‘Maybe everybody just picks a stick out of a cup,’ she suggested in the caption, adding in a comment there were nine bridesmaids and the ceremony is at 5pm.

A recent TikTok from bride-to-be Mia Moore left viewers aghast after she revealed her bridesmaids’ makeup would begin at 4am

In the video, she showed a rundown of the times, with the first slot at 4am the the final one at 12pm.

‘I was told the rule of thumb is to work backwards from your start time with a two-hour buffer,’ she explained.

‘If I would have known that something as simple as a bridesmaid makeup schedule would have been this controversial I would have kept it to myself,’ she said in a follow up video, after turning comments off on her original post.

Mia responded to a comment from a user saying she would happily get her makeup done at 4am if it was asked for her.

‘If you would not do absolutely anything for the person getting married then why are you even a bridesmaid?’ she questioned, adding many people in her original video said they would drop out of the wedding.

‘If that is all it takes for you to drop out of a wedding, why would you even want to be a part of it?’ she quizzed.

She added multiple bridesmaids volunteered to go first, so it hasn’t been an issue.

Followers chimed in sharing their thoughts on the controversial topic, some agreeing and others thinking it was too early.

‘If I was in your wedding, it’s because I love you,’ the user wrote. ‘If you asked me to get my makeup done at 4am I would say anything for you. Just provide caffeine and snack and they’ll be fine.’

‘I’d be happy to get up at 1am if it’s needed! Anything for my friend on her ONCE in a lifetime day!’ added another.

‘If I had to be up at 3am, I’d be sleeping during the wedding, wouldn’t be able to stay up lol. At that point I’d prefer to do my own makeup then struggle to get through the day,’ one user wrote.

According to New York based makeup artist Ann Liendo, early start times are necessary for brides participating in traditional ceremonies that require preparation to be completed before sunrise.

‘Another common reason is when the bridal party is large, and the bride prefers not to bring in multiple makeup artists to avoid additional fees,’ she explained to the DailyMail.com.

‘In these cases, to ensure everyone is ready on time, we might need to start makeup as early as 4am,’ she explained.

Ann said that as a general rule, a makeup artist can handle five to six people maximum on a wedding day.

‘But with larger bridal parties or time constraints, an earlier start becomes necessary,’ she added.

‘However, it’s not always the case, and many factors such as the number of makeup artists and the number of bridesmaids involved will determine the start time,’ Ann, who also travels for destination weddings continued.

‘Early starts for American weddings are less common unless there’s a specific request for a morning finish.’

However, the makeup artist warned that a super early start can come at a higher cost.

‘I do charge an early start fee when clients request services to begin unusually early, and most are prepared for this additional cost,’ she shared. ‘However, it’s rare unless there are special circumstances.’
