Boston police arrest suspect in fatal Roxbury hit-and-run

Boston police arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that occurred last month in Roxbury, police said.

Officers responded Jan. 18 at approximately 8:29 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at 1829 Washington St., according to a statement from police.

On arrival, officers found Taylor Wilkinson, 20, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries, and a 23-year-old woman with minor injuries, the statement said. Both victims were taken to a local hospital, where Wilkinson died from her injuries.

After an investigation by the Boston Police Homicide Unit and the Fatal Collision Investigation Team, detectives identified Christopher Baker, 36, from Boston, as a suspect, according to the statement.

Officers arrested Baker at approximately 5:17 p.m. Wednesday near 100 Belvidere St., the statement said.

Baker has been charged with motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, manslaughter, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, speeding, crosswalk violation, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. He is set to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court, the statement said.

Wilkinson was a student at Fisher College and graduated from the Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers in 2023, according to a Fisher College statement released shortly after her death. She was a sophomore studying management with a concentration in fashion marketing, the statement said.
