Carrie, 37, announced the arrival of her fourth child with the ex Prime Minister in an Instagram post
Carrie Johnson has announced the birth of her fourth child with the former Tory leader. The 37-year-old revealed her new daughter was called Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson in a post on Instagram.
Poppy Eliza is Boris Johnson’s ninth child. He has four children with his second ex-wife Marina Johnson, one from an affair with a property developer in 2009 and now four with his third wife Carrie.
In a post on Instagram, Carrie wrote: “Welcome to the world Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson born on 21st May. Aka Pops, Pop Tart ❤️
She added: “I can’t believe how pretty and tiny you are. Feel so incredibly lucky. We are all totally smitten. Not sure I’ve slept a minute since you were born as can’t stop looking at how completely lovely you are.”
Carrie thanked everyone in the maternity team who had helped her, saying: “Thank you so much to the amazing maternity team at UCLH and particularly to Asma and Patrick who have looked after me so well through all my pregnancies. I really cannot thank you guys enough.”
And she said that her other three children were delighted to meet what she suggested would be their last child.
She said: “Wilf, Romy and Frank are utterly delighted, particularly Romy who was desperate for a little sister. Bring on the matching dresses. A final gang member.”
She posted a picture of her husband, 60, cradling their newborn. And said that that they had returned home from hospital for pizza and rum cocktails to celebrate.
Johnson left office as Prime Minister in September 2022. He was first married to Allegra Mostyn-Owen for six years from 1987 to 1993. He married Marina Wheeler in 1993 before divorcing in 2020 when he was Prime Minister.
The Cambridge graduate and former journalist married Carrie in 2021.
