On Saturday afternoon, some 80,000 fans made their way to Heaton Park in Manchester, braving the elements and layering up with ponchos, bucket hats and a beer or two as they prepared for the band to take to the stage once more.
With the rain proving a reality and storms threatening cause a wash out later in the day, it was a wet start to proceedings but fans seemed to take it in their stride as come rain or shine, they were on the cusp of seeing the legendary Britpop band in action.
As Cast and Richard Ashcroft began performing their support slots to the crowd inside Heaton Park at 6pm and 7pm respectively, there was also a big audience outside of the venue once again – this time with reports of ‘easily a couple of thousand’ people taking to the area once known as Gallagher Hill.
Despite being fenced off and fans being advised not to attend if they do not have a ticket, it was hailed as being the busiest its ever been tonight.
While fans were assembling either inside the venue or on the hill overlooking it, Paul Arthurs, otherwise known as Bonehead, was busy giving fans a glimpse of behind-the-scenes, sharing some snaps to Instagram.
In a snap shared backstage at Heaton Park before Oasis went on tonight, a picture posted on Instagram captioned ‘Mad fer it’ showed Bonehead stood next to Tim Burgess, lead singer of The Charlatans, as well as Mark Berry, better known as Bez from the Happy Mondays, and Andy Bell, bass guitarist for Oasis.
Fans were delighted to see the four musicians together, with one writing: “Legends. Have a tremendous night.”
Following this, Bonehead, Gem Archer and Andy Bell took a mirror selfie, before joining brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher on stage as they treated fans to hits including Live Forever, Whatever and Half The World Away before closing the night with Champagne Supernova.
After the show, he was quick to tweet his thoughts, sharing a four-word verdict on the fourth show. “It’s gettin better man,” he simply penned on Twitter.
While most fans flooded the comments with positive messages or asked if Oasis had mixed up the setlist, one said it was the “Same setlist as every other night”, which he batted down.
