Body recovered from reservoir at North Staffordshire beauty spot

A body has been recovered from a reservoir at a North Staffordshire beauty spot today (Sunday, March 9). Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Knypersley Reservoir in the Staffordshire Moorlands at around 4.30pm.

The body is believed to be that of a missing 74-year-old man from nearby Lask Edge. Police said formal identification had not yet taken place and that his next of kin had been informed.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers recovered the body of a man from a reservoir earlier today (Sunday 9 March).

“We were called at 4.30pm to Knypersley Reservoir off Greenway Bank in Biddulph.

“Officers attended along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

“Sadly, the body of a man was recovered from the water by fire crews.

“We are not treating the death as suspicious.

“We believe the body to be that of missing 74-year-old man, Malcolm, from Lask Edge near Biddulph Moor. Formal identification will take place in due course.

“His next of kin have been informed and a file will shortly be prepared for HM Coroner.”
