Black-Stained Wooden Cabins : smoke lake cabin

Canadian design firm Anya Moryoussef Architect has created the Smoke Lake Cabin using black-stained wood. This blends the exterior design into the forested location in Ontario. Nestled by the lake in the Algonquin Provincial Park, it is meant to be a tranquil design which minimizes its impact on the natural location.

Founder of the studio, Anya Moryoussef shares with Dezeen, “The goal was to work within the park guidelines and re-invent the Algonquin Park bunkie typology at the same time. We believe, first and foremost, in an empathetic approach to design. This meant building small, touching the ground as lightly as possible, sourcing simple Canadian materials, and taking the lead from the dramatic forest and shoreline.”
