Cairo: One of the most significant Muslim countries in the Middle East has shocked India by purchasing a batch of fighter jets from India’s norther neighbour China. In the latest development, Egypt, an ally of India, has received the first batch of J-10CE fighter jets made in China for its Air Force. The Chinese fighter jets that Egypt has received are equipped with advanced high-end technologies like advanced air-to-air missiles, which are capable of hitting targets beyond visual range. Also, readers must note that India’s arch-rival Pakistan has also received these aircraft from China.
The J-10CE fighter jet was developed by China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation. With advanced features like modern avionics and the ability to carry PL-10 and PL-15 missile, active electronically scanned array radar, the fighter jet is seen as a dangerous weapon in air. Moreover, with the air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons, the jet becomes more dangerous. As per a report by Navbharat Times, the price of the J-10CE fighter jet is estimated to be at $40 to $50 million. Notably, the US F-16 is priced at $65 to $70 million.
Israeli forces begin withdrawing from key Gaza corridor
In another significant update, Israeli forces have begun withdrawing from a key area in Gaza as part of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement that took effect last month, an Israeli government official said on Sunday.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official told Xinhua news agency that the pullout from the area dubbed by Israel as the Netzarim Corridor — a strip of land that bisected Gaza from north to south — is expected to be completed by late Sunday.
The Israeli military had established posts in the corridor during its 15-month-long assault on Gaza, Xinhua news agency reported. Speaking anonymously to Xinhua, an Israeli security official said that the military was “preparing to implement the agreement according to the guidelines of the political echelon.”
Footage circulating on social media appeared to show troops setting fire to furniture and unidentified boxes at their bases, with a soldier heard shouting, “We will leave nothing for the Gazans.”
