Architecture firms Chetwoods and J&A work together to transform a metro station located in Shenzhen, China as a larger part of the city’s Tourism line. The Dameisha station is a popular holiday destination and it was only accessible by car before. Now, the station is linked with the larger part of the metro network in the city. The new transformation is designed with coastal themes and cultural identity.
Chetwoods speaks about the design to Dezeen, noting “Rooted in the coastal scenery, the design embodies a sense of freedom, tranquillity, and unhurried comfort, aligning with the overarching tourism theme of Metro Line 8. We wanted to create an inviting atmosphere that evokes memories of past beach experiences and the concept of ‘dreaming on the beach’.”
