The festival will welcome 100,000 people over the course of three days in Sefton Park
The line-up for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend has been updated again this morning, with even more incredible acts added to the bill. The music festival will take place in Sefton Park from Friday, May 23 until Sunday, May 25.
Music fans were excited to hear the announcement of further acts on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James yesterday, when it was confirmed that Biffy Clyro, James Hype, Tom Grennan and The Wombats would all be headlining the Main Stage on Friday, May 23. The Radio 1 DJ also confirmed The Radio 1 New Music stage will host Barry Can’t Swim, Confidence Man, D.O.D, Jazzy, Katy B, Nia Archives and Prospa.
And on this morning’s breakfast show, Greg James announced even more headliners for the festival – with AJ Tracey and Aitch to perform back to back, for what the DJ said would be the “first time ever”. The other acts announced were Blossoms, Wolf Alice, Tom Odell, Inhaler and Good Neighbours, who will all headline the event on Saturday, May 24.
BBC Radio 1 is holding ticket giveaways live on air this week, with listeners encouraged to tune in from 7am each morning to be in with a chance of getting their hands on tickets to the event.
In January, Sam Fender was the first headliner announced alongside support acts Myles Smith, Wet Leg, Blossoms and Lola Young. More names are promised in the coming weeks. You can see the lineup for every stage here.
Tickets for Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be available from Thursday, March 13, from 5pm. Each ticket will cost £33 (plus a £4.50 booking fee per ticket). A link to tickets will appear on the BBC website when they are available.
People living in Liverpool will have more chance of getting a ticket to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend than those living elsewhere in the country. The event will reserve 50% of tickets for residents living in Liverpool. Over the course of the weekend, around 100 acts will take to the stage in Sefton Park, from the biggest artists in the world to exciting new and emerging artists, performing across four stages.
There will be 34,500 general admission tickets available per day which cost £33 (plus a £4.50 booking fee per tickets). A total of 1,500 VIP tickets will be available per day and will cost £95 (plus a £5.70 booking fee per ticket). Tickets will be reserved in three pots:
Pot 1: 50% of general admission tickets will be reserved for Liverpool City Council residents. They will be held for seven days from Thursday, March 13, with any unsold after a week made available to fans across the UK.
Pot 2: 40% of tickets will be reserved for residents surrounding the Liverpool City Region. This includes Sefton, Halton, Wirral, Knowsley and St Helens. These tickets will also be held for a week from Thursday, March 13, with any unsold after seven days made available to fans across the UK.
Pot 3: 10% of the overall number of general admission tickets will be unreserved and available for anyone in the UK to purchase.
To secure tickets from pots 1 and 2 you will need to enter the postcode of your home address at the time of purchase. Anyone breaking the rules and regulations governing the ticket purchasing process may have any purchased tickets cancelled without notice.
