BBC drama series dubbed ‘masterpiece’ by fans is coming to Netflix this weekend

One highly acclaimed series dubbed a “masterpiece” by fans is coming to Netflix this weekend.

The BBC drama series Normal People will make its way onto the UK’s most popular streaming service Netflix on Sunday, in a highly-awaited move.

The 12-part series comes to the platform after first being made available on BBC iPlayer in 2020, and has since gone on to relieve both popular and critical acclaim.

Based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Sally Rooney, Normal People follows the lives of two young people – Connell and Marianne – across their early years in Sligo and Dublin during school and university.

The hit show boasts an incredible cast including Paul Mescal who has since starred in Gladiator II, and Daisy Edgar-Jones who has since starred in Where the Crawdads Sing and Twisters.

Following the it’s initial success on BBC iPlayer, Normal People received raving reviews with a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score alongside fans calling the show a “masterpiece”.

Writing on IMBD, one fan of the series described Normal People as an “authentically emotional triumph”.

Another added that the show, based and filmed in County Sligo and Dublin, should be considered an “Irish masterpiece”.

Viewers will be able to watch Normal People on iPlayer from Sunday, August 3, on Netflix.
