BBC Breakfast star Nina Warhurst was forced to apologise after she suffered an awkward blunder during Tuesday’s show
BBC Breakfast viewers were met with an unexpected hiccup when presenter Nina Warhurst had to issue an apology after a technical snag interrupted Tuesday’s (April 1) broadcast.
During today’s edition of the hit morning programme, hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent were on the red sofa to bring viewers the latest news from the UK and around the world.
They were joined in the studio by Ben Thompson, who was presenting the sports news, and Carol Kirkwood, who provided regular weather updates.
Coinciding with household bill increases taking effect today, impacting everything from energy costs to mobile phone tariffs, Nina was all set to discuss the pertinent topic of food inflation.

“It’s not just household bills that are going up today. You’ll probably have noticed that the price of your weekly shop has increased too, and Nina is here with all the details on that,” introduced Jon.
But as Nina began her segment, she stumbled upon a problem – her microphone wasn’t functioning.
“One moment, sorry! I’ll just get that on,” she said as she began adjusting her mic pack to sort the issue, reports the Express.
“There we are, that’s my fault apologies,” Nina went on, only to be halted again by her faltering mic.
Eventually, Nina conceded, “No, microphone’s not working. I’m so sorry, I will bring you the news on food inflation a little bit later,” before swiftly redirecting the floor back to her co-hosts Sally and Jon.
Sally pointed out the “very unusual” situation of their microphones malfunctioning, with Nina affirming that her mic “was on”.
“It is on, it’s you that’s not working!” Jon humorously retorted, before Sally assured viewers that they would reconnect with Nina shortly.
Once the microphone issue was resolved, Nina delved into the financial changes families will encounter starting this month.
“April 1st is the start of the financial year, we’re used to seeing price increases, but this year is being dubbed Awful April for good reason. From today, gas and electricity for millions of households are increasing due to the regulator’s price cap increase,” she outlined.
Nina further discussed the hikes in water bills, council tax, car tax, and TV licences, noting: “If it feels like it’s an unusual number of increases all at once, that’s because it is.”
