BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt was left laughing after Naga Munchetty told a story about a man’s romantic gesture gone wrong
BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt found himself at odds with co-presenter Naga Munchetty during a light-hearted debate over a hotel room mishap.
In the live broadcast on Saturday (17th May), Naga shared an amusing tale about a man who planned a unique romantic gesture for his partner in a hotel.
The man had requested that hotel staff decorate their bed with packets of crisps, knowing his partner’s fondness for the snack.
However, the couple were taken aback when they discovered that the hotel staff had opened all the crisp packets and strewn them across the bed.
Charlie confessed that he would have interpreted the unusual request in the same way, reports the Express.

He conceded: “I would have done the same”, while Naga expressed her astonishment at Charlie’s revelation, prompting laughter from him.
Naga elaborated on the story, saying: “There’s this couple who on a night out who came back and returned to their hotel. This guy, Johnny Norman, asked staff not to lay rose petals on the bed.
“But because his partner loved crisps, he brought all these crisp packets and wanted them laid out on the bed for her like a surprise.
“The staff took all the crisp packets he had provided, opened them up, and scattered them over the bed as if they were rose petals,”
She continued: “You can’t see the picture but they had thought they had gone somewhere awful.”
Charlie joined in: “I think that’s what I would have done. That’s what I thought you meant, that they would be open.”
He then queried: “She wanted actual crisp packets open on the bed?”
Naga shot back: “Crisps all over the bedsheets?” prompting Charlie to ask: “Why would she want crisp packets on the bed, the plastic?”
The reason, Naga explained, was “She likes crisps” at which Charlie observed: “In that case, having them open would be much better.”
This led Naga to exclaim: “Is she supposed to dive into the bed and just trough them?”
This prompted Charlie to laugh and reply: “I don’t know, I don’t know!” before adding: “You can’t blame the staff though as that makes sense to me” as the pair shared a smile.
