The layoffs came just a couple of months after Atlassian’s billionaire CEO and co-founder, Mike Cannon-Brookes, explained in part why he purchased a private jet.

Layoffs are becoming an increasingly salient issue across industries around the world, signaling economic insecurity and changing company priorities. According to a recent news report, Jira software maker Atlassian has reportedly laid off 150 employees. The Australian software company intends to replace some of those jobs with new AI technology.
The layoffs came just a couple of months after Atlassian’s billionaire CEO and co-founder, Mike Cannon-Brookes, explained in part why he purchased a private jet.
In March, Cannon-Brookes, co-founder of Atlassian, elaborated about his decision to purchase a $75 million Bombardier 7500 jet on LinkedIn, stating that his purchase was strictly an effort to help him spend more time with his family.
Meanwhile, when the company recently announced the abolition of 150 jobs, fellow co-founder and former CEO Scott Farquhar supported the move.
