The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to Loma Linda Hospital Wednesday evening following unconfirmed reports of a possible shooter.
The Sheriff’s Department released a statement via social media around 6:35 p.m. in which it said it was aware of reports of a “possible armed individual.”
Deputies were on the scene and actively clearing the facility, officials said. Videos posted to social media showed a massive police presence with dozens of police vehicles and law enforcement helicopters flying overhead.
The public was urged to avoid the area and find alternate routes.
Additional details were limited and Sheriff’s officials said updates would be provided on its official social media channels.
The status of the hospital operations is currently unclear.
Sky5 is en route to the scene and KTLA will provide updates as we learn more.
