Caught in the middle of a massive controversy following his remarks on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent, Ranveer Allahbadia has found himself facing multiple FIRs after the clip went viral online. Alongside comedian and the show’s creator Samay Raina and a few others, Allahbadia has been summoned by the police and the Women’s Commission in the wake of the incident. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court also came down heavily on Allahbadia for his ‘obscene’ remarks while granting him interim relief from arrest in the case.
While the backlash continues to grow, a new perspective has emerged from a person who claimed to have been present during the taping of the controversial episode.
Video creator Mohit Khubani took to Instagram and said, “I was present in that episode. I was in the audience… That kid came, Ranveer said that joke. After saying it, Ranveer apologised (to the contestant) around three to four times…saying, ‘Sorry, aapko bura toh nahi laga (hope you didn’t feel bad).’”
Khubani admitted that an apology doesn’t erase everything, but emphasised that Allahbadia made a genuine effort to check on the young contestant’s feelings. He also revealed that the contestant went on to win the competition that day. “That child won. Everyone celebrated after he won. Ranveer hugged him and asked again, ‘You okay? Sorry, if you felt bad for that joke.’ Samay also said, ‘You killed it, bhai. Crazy.’”
Wrapping up his message, Khubani urged people to look at the full picture before jumping to conclusions. “I am only asking everyone not to spread hate unnecessarily,” he said.

The controversy
YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, widely known by his username ‘BeerBiceps’, is facing legal action over his remarks during an appearance as a guest judge on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent. The comments triggered public outrage, leading to FIRs against Allahbadia, Raina, and the other judges on that episode, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija. Complaints were filed by the Maharashtra Cyber Department, Guwahati Police, and Jaipur Police.
Authorities stated that Allahbadia had been “unreachable” for questioning, prompting the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to summon him on February 24. The National Commission for Women (NCW) also summoned the creators, but they failed to appear, citing safety concerns and prior commitments. Allahbadia reported receiving death threats and harassment and requested a fresh hearing date.

Another complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accusing the show’s makers of using “abusive language and insults towards women for financial benefit.” In response to the backlash, Allahbadia and Raina issued public apologies. Raina also removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent and assured cooperation with the investigation.
