Arrests made after ‘ballied up youths’ raid suspected cannabis farm

Merseyside Police said three people had been arrested but the investigation was still ongoing

Three men have been arrested after “ballied up youths” raided a house that was a suspected cannabis farm. A local contact in New Brighton told the ECHO that “two cars” of people “raided a house” on Field Road in New Brighton, which was suspected of being a cannabis farm.

The local source added a man fled from the property and the “youths took a large amount of plants”. Merseyside Police has confirmed to the ECHO that officers received reports that entry had been gained to a property at around 5.15pm on May 17.

A spokesperson for the force said officers attended the scene and located a large cannabis farm comprising around 100 plants and specialist equipment. These were all forensically seized by the Merseyside Police cannabis dismantling team.

The force said as part of the wide-ranging investigation, officers have arrested three men. However, enquiries continue, and detective chief inspector Peter Stephenson urged more people to come forward with information.

Those arrested so far are:

DCI Stephenson’s statement in full said: “This is an ongoing investigation, and three arrests have been made. However, I would still like to appeal for anyone with information to come forward as we continue to establish the circumstances.
