A&M hires names Jan Crosby as hospitality M&A managing director

Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Jan Crosby as a managing director. Based in London, he will now lead the firm’s real estate and hospitality M&A practice.

Jonathan Boyers, head of corporate finance EMEA for Alvarez & Marsal, commented, “I’m proud to welcome Jan to help build our real estate and hospitality capability across EMEA. He brings a significant network and specialist sector knowledge which will combine powerfully with the wider practice.”

Boyers added that Crosby has “a tremendous depth of experience across the sector and across deal types”, something which he witnessed first-hand when the pair worked together at KPMG. During that stint with the Big Four firm, Crosby led KPMG’s real estate M&A team too.

Most recently, Crosby was head of corporate finance at Savills Capital Advisors. There, he advised on corporate M&A and capital raising across operating real estate in the living, alternatives and hospitality sectors – building expertise in a range of transactions including buy-side, sell-side, capital raising, recapitalisations and restructuring.

Looking ahead, Crosby will join fellow Managing Director Samantha Ward, who has broad experience across both hospitality and wider operating real estate transactions. The move aims to underscore A&M’s focus on “becoming a European market leader with both regional and sector coverage”, according to a release from the firm.

Commenting on his appointment, Crosby added, “In a challenging macro environment, independent financial advice is even more critical to the success of transactions than it has been in recent years. It is an exciting time to be joining A&M to provide clients with this independent support, particularly as the opportunities for corporate and platform transactions continue to grow. I am delighted to be joining a high growth team and working with many former colleagues. Our ambition is to grow an M&A team across the operating real estate and hospitality sectors that is recognised as market leading in the quality of its advice and which can draw on the wider A&M skill set across operational improvement, restructuring and debt advisory.”
