Sweet-toothed Australians have been left reeling after discovering that Allen’s has quietly discontinued its beloved Mad About Teeth lollies.
Rumours started swirling after a panicked fan took to Allen’s Facebook page, desperate for answers.
‘Have you discontinued Mad About Teeth? I can’t find them anywhere!’ she wrote, sparking fears the fan-favourite treat had disappeared for good.
Sadly, the worst has been confirmed.
Nine months ago, one devastated Reddit user shared their heartbreak after receiving an email from Allen’s confirming the treat would no longer be available.
‘Look, I don’t think anyone else is obsessed with them to the point that I am (I am actively chewing on one as I write this – yes, I have no shame), but my suspicions were confirmed as of a few minutes ago,’ they wrote.
‘Allen’s teeth lollies are being discontinued.’
The company wrote in the email: ‘We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sadly we’ve discontinued this product.’

An email from Allen’s sealed the deal, with the company confirming the product had been discontinued with no plans to bring it back
‘The decision to stop making one of our products is never an easy one and it’s never made lightly as we know there will be some loyal fans.
‘As you can imagine, factors such as declining sales, retail space and new products being launched so that we can offer variety in our range, can often result in us having to discontinue products.’
For die-hard Mad About Teeth fans, it’s a bitter pill to swallow.
‘I only discovered them a few months ago and became obsessed with them – so much better than the ones I had as a kid – and now they’re gone!’ one person wrote.
‘One of the problems was that every Coles and Woolies has a different set of Allen’s lollies on the shelves. The stocking is so unreliable it’s hard to build any loyalty,’ another lamented.
Others were less measured in their grief, with one devastated lolly lover writing: ‘Heart f**king breaking.’
It’s not the first time Allen’s has culled a much-loved sweet from its range.
Fans are still mourning the loss of Fantales, Frosty Fruits chews, and Green Frogs – just a few of the iconic lollies that have disappeared from shelves over the years.
Whether Allen’s will cave to public pressure and bring Mad About Teeth back remains to be seen.
But for now, those lucky enough to have a bag stashed away might want to savour every last bite.
