Exclusive: The moment a Land Rover comes to a grinding halt followed by a police foot chase has been captured on security video obtained by 9News.
The drama unfolded just after midnight at Green Valley in Liverpool in the city’s south-west.
One NSW Police officer can be heard yelling, “Get on the ground, get on the ground now!” during the chase.
A 16-year-old girl was arrested on Bernier Way at Green Valley and the driver remains on the run.
Police began the pursuit on Delvin Way at Bonnyrigg and the chase moved through Ashcroft and then Green Valley.
Neighbour Tom Tran witnessed the crash.
“I heard a bit of a loud bang, followed by cops screaming and thought, ‘That’s not normal’,” Tran told 9News.
“Two people ran out, one initially ran down the way but a cop pulled in front of him, he turned around, his friend ran down the other way.
“I’m surprised he (the driver) didn’t hit anyone’s house.”
Officers caught up with the 16-year-old passenger minutes later.
Resident Fudhail Abdul saw the arrest.
“I just saw a bunch of cops coming around with a big dog, I saw (the police) taking someone inside the car,” he said.
The car was allegedly stolen from George Street in Waterloo on July 31.
The search for the driver is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
