A woman has been left “feeling sick” after buying a packet of spaghetti from Aldi. She couldn’t believe what she saw when she opened the packet to cook her dinner
Brits pop into their local supermarket most weeks, with Aldi proving a popular choice for many. Countless shoppers venture there to grab essential items and stock up on groceries, but one woman recently experienced the fright of her life during a routine shopping trip.
Joanne Louise popped into her local branch recently, with pasta among the items she selected. As a cupboard staple in countless British homes, it’s a food item that many people toss into their shopping baskets, but one shopper was recently left stunned after tearing open the packet, as she was horrified by what she discovered inside.
She was so astounded that she posted a clip online to demonstrate what occurred. It’s not the first time a shopper has found something unexpected in their pasta.
Revealing precisely what unfolded in a TikTok clip, she said: “So, I’ve just opened this brand new packet of spaghetti. I’ve come to ask you what kind of bin do I put it in?
“Can you please care to tell me what bin this goes in because that’s disgraceful. Aldi spaghetti. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it other than mould.”

When Joanne displays the pasta to the camera you can observe a substantial portion of it appears green and coated in mould. She revealed she had purchased it to prepare spaghetti bolognese for her evening meal, and was appalled by its appearance.
In the comments section, one individual suggested: “Contact them – they should replace/refund.” Responding to this, Joanne stated: “I feel like I’m put off by it now. Makes me gag thinking about it.”
Another person simply posted a “sick face” emoji, indicating that the incident didn’t sit well with many.
Aldi has confirmed that there have been no other complaints of this nature. An Aldi spokesperson commented: “Although rare, incidents like this can occasionally occur if packaging is damaged at any point before the product is consumed, as the contents may be exposed to moisture.
“We’re sorry that on this occasion, this product did not meet our usual high standards. Anyone not entirely happy with their purchase can return the product to any store for a full refund.”
It was recently revealed that the supermarket has restocked its middle aisle with a variety of new and returning items.
The middle aisle, also known as the “random aisle”, offers an array of unexpected and often quirky items that some shoppers find irresistible.
The Special Buys for the end of July/start of August include a variety of items for the home, with a focus on the kitchen. Shoppers will also discover a selection of new and returning beauty buys, providing a cost-effective way to indulge in self-care.
