Emergency services have descended on a Stockport shopping centre following a medical incident.

Police and paramedics have been in attendance at Cheadle Royal following an emergency this morning (March 7).

An air ambulance was seen landing on the John Lewis car park as part of the response.

Several ambulances and police cars have been reported in the area by eyewitnesses.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed it was called out to the scene by North West Ambulance Service at around 10.15am.

Officers were called out to support paramedics as they worked at the scene, while CCTV footage is also being checked by police.

Roads around Cheadle Royal, including the John Lewis and Sainsbury’s, have been closed to allow emergency services to carry out their work.

A man has been taken to hospital for further treatment, GMP said.

There are not currently thought to be any suspicious circumstances, but officers are carrying out enquiries at the scene.
