Goodbyes are hard, especially when it’s told to our favorite Boston restaurants and bars.
Restaurants and bars, sadly, aren’t built to last forever. Blame COVID, inflation, the difficulties of running a small business in general, or life decisions, for that final meal that comes too soon and unexpectedly.

January 2025 Restaurant Closures
Statement from restaurant: “It is with a heavy heart to announce Bone and Bread is going out of business. We are beyond devastated to have to do this. As of Friday January 31, we will be leaving our joined location in Brighton with [Widowmaker] Taproom and Kitchen as well as taking our beloved food truck off the road. We must do this for too many reasons to list or get into. It ultimately doesn’t matter why we are closing as we would rather focus why we started and continue to offer the best possible product to the end. We are so thankful for all the support from our customers over the past few years. You helped make a dream come true and we will be forever grateful. Bone and Bread will continue to operate in Brighton until January 31 as we hope to see some familiar faces over the next few weeks. We will be posting more specials, memories, and will be bottling our signature sauce for those who want Bone and Bread long after we are gone. Hope to see you all soon!”
Statement from restaurant: “I am proud of our team and of the hospitality we shared at both Hook + Line and H + L Market. It is no secret the thin line that restaurants walk with profitability, and even though we have created a beautiful and well-received restaurant, bar and market, it just isn’t sustainable for us to continue.”
- La Colombe Cafe, 745 Atlantic Ave., Leather District; 29 Northern Ave., Seaport
Statement from restaurants: “After careful consideration and evaluation, La Colombe has made the difficult decision to exit the Boston market, including both its Seaport and South Station cafés. The decision to close any café is not made lightly, and several factors were taken into account including financial performance, lease agreements, and future business strategies. Like all businesses, La Colombe continuously evaluates its portfolio, and we believe this move sets us up for long-term success and continued growth.”
Statement from restaurant: “It is with great sadness we announce that unfortunately Rudy’s will be closing permanently on Sunday 1/19. We greatly appreciate all your smiling faces and our wonderful regulars over the 40+ years, and we hope to see many of you in the coming weeks! Please keep in mind we are understaffed and low on inventory, please be patient with us as we are also sorry you may not be able to enjoy some of your favorites one last time!”
