Delhi Confidential: Pariksha Participation | India News

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, which comes under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying headed by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, has asked all its officers and staff to participate in the 8th edition of ‘Pariksha pe Charcha’, an annual event in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacts with students, teachers and parents in a town hall-format meeting. The event is likely to be held this month. In an order issued with the approval of the competent authority on Thursday, the department also “requested” the officers and staff to encourage their children to participate in the event.

Date Clash

The Sangh Parivar is unhappy with the announcement of Delhi elections on February 5, which falls in the Kumbh Mela period. In a statement, VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal said the poll schedule would deprive many devout Hindus from Delhi from exercising their franchise since they would be in Prayagraj. “Kalpavasi Hindus cannot leave the holy land of Prayagraj for the whole month. It is necessary to evaluate and think about all these things. Will all those Hindus of the Capital not be deprived of their voting rights,” he asked.

150-Yr Celebrations

One of the oldest scientific institutions in the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) will complete 150 years on January 15. Several events have been planned to commemorate the contributions of the department, which was set up in 1875. The IMD has invited several neighbouring nations, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Maldives among others, for the 150th anniversary celebrations, which will be attended by PM Narendra Modi.
