A HYUNDAI model dubbed a “high-performance beast” has been named the best car to buy in 2025.
The stunning all-electric Ioniq 5 N, which was first released in March 2024, was recently labelled by luxury brand Motor Authority as having “the strongest appeal to enthusiasts” of all the cars available to buy in the coming year.

The car experts noted the EV’s performance – including acceleration and handling – as well as its styling, features, and value as all its deciding factors.
Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president of product planning and mobility strategy at Hyundai Motor North America, said: “It’s a great honor for the Ioniq 5 N to be named Motor Authority’s ‘Best Car to Buy 2025’.
“The Ioniq 5 N is a true high-performance beast.
“With features like N e-Shift and N Grin Boost, 5 N redefines engagement and driving fun for the electric age.”
The incredible N e-Shift is designed to simulate manual gear changes, similar to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
This tech works by controlling the motor’s torque output while simulating the jolt feeling between shifts.
As a result, it provides a more precise, interactive driving experience that feels closer to regular high-performance petrol-powered cars than previous EVs.
This in turn works with the N Active Sound+ feature, which provides a realistic motor torque sound, or tone.
This is more than just fake engine sounds, as it provides a dynamic soundscape, built to cater to both enthusiasts and those seeking a futuristic soundtrack to their journeys.
This works by using an electric car sound emitter, consisting of eight internal and two external speakers.
Motor Authority added: “Our team had big-time fun and posted some hot lap times in the Ioniq 5 N.
“The Ioniq 5 N proves that electric-car drivers can excel on the racetrack, too. Sorry about the tires.”
Hyundai also recently revealed its new “future-proof” windshield that can clear ice and frost from glass.
Dubbed Metal-Coated Heated Glass, this 48-volt system could be the future of heated windscreen tech – which is said to work three times faster than conventional de-frosting systems currently available.
Using 20 screen layers, one of which is metal-coated, the defrosting and demisting technology heats up using the same 800V architecture that’s used on its all-electric Genesis GV70 and GV60.
So far, testing on the metal-coated glass has been carried out in temperatures as low as 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 C), and it has shown a huge reduction in the time spent clearing the windscreen.
Elsewhere, a new Volvo SUV has been tailor-made for music lovers – thanks to its incredible sound system.
Designed in collaboration with one of the world’s most famous recording studios, the stunning new Volvo EX90 gives drivers a unique music-listening experience.
Packed full of smart tech that provides comfort, safety and entertainment, one of the highlights of the vehicle’s cabin is the 32 individual Bowers and Wilkins speakers and its “Abbey Road Studios Mode”.
