Indian architecture firm 3dor Concepts has completed the design of the Nyori, which is a minimal home in Kerala inspired by the look of a flowing and pleated cloth. The undulating white walls are inspired by the dynamics and material of a cloth as Nyori is the Malayalam word for the pleats that are made in traditional clothing. It is designed for a family looking for a peaceful retreat away from urban environments.
The studio explains, “The design was shaped by the clients’ desire for a simple, peaceful life away from the city. The flowing, wave-like lines on the facade, which evoke the graceful movement of pleats in traditional Indian clothing, create a sense of softness. They also integrate the modern design with the natural surroundings, enhancing the house’s tranquil, retreat-like atmosphere.”
