‘Basic tameez bhi nahi hai’: Redditor calls Gurgaon ‘city of entitled people’ after road rage incident | Trending News

A Reddit post has gone viral after a user shared a frustrating incident that left him questioning the basic etiquette of drivers in Gurgaon, which he called the “City of Entitled People.”

The man described how things took a turn for the worse while he was exiting a mall. The service lane outside was already cramped due to cars parked haphazardly on both sides, leaving just a single lane open, he said. Trying to be considerate, he decided to reverse slightly to let an oncoming car through.

“In the interest of keeping things flowing, I did the logical thing – I reversed my car to a spot where there was a bit of space so the oncoming car could pass comfortably,” he explained, calling it a basic gesture of cooperation.

However, instead of appreciation, he was met with rage. A man driving a white Creta reportedly began blaring his horn and shouting. “He not only refuses to wait but rolls down his window and starts shouting at me accusing me of blocking the road!” the user wrote. What made things worse was that the man’s car had elderly passengers and children, but that did not stop the aggressor from hurling abuse.

Left shocked and angry, he ended his post with a stinging remark: “Traffic sense toh door ki baat hai, basic tameez bhi nahi hai (forget traffic sense, basic manners are missing)!! Where is this city headed?”

The post struck a chord online, sparking outrage and reigniting debates about traffic culture and public behaviour in urban India. A user wrote, “Bro I have understood this way before in india 90 percent of people are like bugs there life holds no value to the government or the top 10 percent for them your elders your children are just plain insects that are coming in the way and the richer they are the worse it gets.”

Another user wrote, “And being brought up in Gurgaon, I don’t understand what kind of people are spending crores to buy flats here.. I think i am blessed that I live in old gurgaon.. Here also people are morons but slightly better than these new Gurgaon side.. Don’t worry slowly things will settle,, the money they have made by selling lands will dry as they don’t have control anger and sense gratification.. And when traveling with family keep car windows rolled up.”

A third person commented, “Most cold, calculated, uncouth, insensitive and entitled people in the country live here. Make this your home only after deep consideration and if no other option left.”

A fourth individual wrote, “Every day life in this city. This city has no authority, no one is incharge, no government except the usual entitled Jacka*s who think he owns the road and the city in proportion of the money he has.”

Another commenter had different thoughts, “What’s this got to do with the city. Terrible experience and I am sorry you had to go through it, but again that guy also might be from some other city, just like most of the people in this city. These days, people in general are no longer humble and think they own everyone. A little bit of money and people lose their mind. But cmon this city has people like you and me as well. Let’s blame the root cause and not the city in general.”
