A man was arrested following the incident in Salford earlier today
A suspect is being questioned by police after reports a man was seen ‘with a firearm’ in Salford earlier today.
He has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear. Police said a gas-powered BB gun had also been seized.
It come after reports that a man was seen with a firearm on Welbeck Grove, Higher Broughton, just after noon today (Saturday).
In a statement on Facebook GMP Salford said: “Our officers have responded swiftly to reports of a man with a firearm at Welbeck Grove, Higher Broughton, just after midday today – he remains in custody having been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear.
“We will not tolerate this type of behaviour and will take robust action. A gas-powered BB gun has also been recovered.”
