Cubs trade for Andrew Kittredge from Orioles: Reports – NBC Chicago

The Chicago Cubs have acquired relief pitcher Andrew Kittredge from the Baltimore Orioles, multiple reports say.

MLB Network insider Jon Heyman was the first to report the deal, with Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic corroborating the report on Wednesday night.

It was not immediately clear who the Cubs sent back to Baltimore in the deal.

Kittredge has a 3.56 ERA in 30 appearances this season, with 31 strikeouts and eight walks in 30.1 innings for the Orioles.

He signed a 1-year deal with the Orioles before the 2025 season. He has a $9 million team option for next season, with a $1 million buyout, according to Spotrac.

In 285 career outings, Kittredge has posted a 25-14 record with a 3.45 ERA, striking out 304 batters in 315.2 innings.

According to Statcast, Kittredge has a three-pitch arsenal, relying heavily on his slider and sinker. That slider is a strong pitch, with a 34.3% whiff percentage and an expected batting average of .187 on the year. He has 28 strikeouts with the pitch, with an average velocity of 88.8 miles per hour.

The Cubs have not made the deal official yet, with the MLB trade deadline set for 5 p.m. Central time on Thursday.

Earlier Wednesday, the Cubs acquired pitcher Michael Soroka from the Washington Nationals in exchange for a pair of prospects.
