Woman arrested in house fire probe as police issue update

A woman was arrested in an arson probe following a house fire today, July 29.

The 41-year-old remained in custody following the blaze at a property on Oak Tree Lane, said West Mercia Police.

Emergency services were called at 4pm to reports of a property fire in Hollywood, which borders south Birmingham and Solihull.

West Mercia Police confirmed a woman was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

She remained in custody this evening and the road was closed as 999 crews continued to work at the scene.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a house fire in Hollywood.

“At around 4pm today (Tuesday 29 July) officers were called to Oak Tree Lane following reports of a fire at a property.

“A 41-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. She remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

“Police, along with colleagues from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, remain on the scene while the area is made safe, and are expected to for some time.

“The road remains closed and people are advised to avoid the area.

“At this moment in time officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the fire, and there are no reported injuries.”
