Astronomer CEO and co-founder Andy Byron has issued a statement after he was caught in an embrace with a woman who isn’t his wife at a recent Coldplay concert in Massachusetts
Chief executive Andy Byron has issued a public statement after being exposed on kiss-cam at a recent Coldplay gig.
The tech boss was unwittingly caught red-handed by Coldplay’s Chris Martin during the band’s latest performance in Massachusetts. Byron appeared utterly blissful as he danced to the group’s hits whilst embracing another woman from behind.
Yet upon spotting themselves displayed on the venue’s giant screen, the pair quickly pulled apart and tried to dodge the cameras at the gig, which it was rumoured might have been slated to come to Cardiff.
Chris Martin, observing their panicked response to appearing on screen, quipped: “Oh look at these two. Either they are having an affair or they’re just really shy,” – and it transpired he was spot-on regarding the “affair” element.
Following the public exposure of the executive’s clandestine relationship, Byron has now issued a formal apology addressing the controversy, reports the Mirror US.
His statement declared: “I want to acknowledge the moment that’s been circulating online, and the disappointment it’s caused.
“What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake play-out out on a very public stage. I want to sincerely apologize to my wife, my family, and my team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader.
“This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped build. I’m taking time to reflect, take accountability, and figure out the next steps, personally and professionally. I ask for privacy as I navigate that process.
“I also want to express how troubling it is that what should have been a private moment became public without my consent. I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else’s life into a spectacle.
“As a friend once sang: ‘Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.”
Numerous individuals have flocked to X, previously known as Twitter, to voice their views on the controversy. Several acknowledged that Andy’s attempt to blame Coldplay for his behaviour was completely inappropriate.
“Blaming Coldplay because you were hugging your side piece AT A PUBLIC EVENT is beyond fucked up. That man is immature, and it shows. Andy Byron, I hope your wife gets a fat check in the divorce, fix you? nah, k you,” one person posted on X.
Another commented: “The most arrogant and tone deaf statement from CEO and A– hat in Charge Andy Byron.”
Following the public fallout, Andy’s spouse, Megan Kerrigan Byron, has made her stance clear amid the media circus.
Reports from Men’s Journal indicate that whilst Megan’s Facebook profile has since been removed, before its deletion she had reverted to using only her maiden name, dropping her husband’s surname, Byron. Whilst this isn’t a definitive indication that she and Andy have parted ways, it is certainly stoking rumours about his extramarital dalliance.
