Zoey Deutch will be honored with the Hollywood Rising-Star Award at the Deauville American Film Festival in September.
The actress will also present French preview of Richard Linklater’s Cannes hit Nouvelle Vague, about the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless, in which she plays American star Jean Seberg.
Deauville’s Hollywood Rising-Star Award pays tribute to an emerging figure in American cinema whose career, acting and artistic choices embody the renewal of the cinematic art.
Deutch follows in the wake of Mikey Madison, who received this honor in 2024 and went on to win the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Sean Baker’s multi-Academy Award-winning feature Anora.
Deutch’s diverse early credits include Ry Russo-Young’s Before I Fall, Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland: Double Tap, Max Winkler’s Flower, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician series, Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some, Claire Scalon’s Set It Up and Tanya Wexler’s Buffaloed as well as Graham Moore’s thriller The Outfit.
More recent films include Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2, in which she stars alongside Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette, as well as Quinn Shephard’s Not Okay and Daryl Wein’s Something from Tiffany’s, both of which she also executive produced.
Deutch also made her Broadway debut last fall as Emily Webb in Our Town.
Shot in black and white and with a 4:3 aspect ratio, Nouvelle Vague has been described as a love letter to the French New Wave.
ARP Sélection has acquired the movie for France and will release it there on October 8 on 500 screens, with plans to submit it for consideration as the French Oscar submission this year.
The French preview screening at Deauville in the presence of Deutch at which she will receive her award will take place on September 12. The 51st Deauville American Film Festival runs from September 4 to 14.
