At least seven vehicles including trucks, a bus and a JCB machine were charred in a major fire which broke out on Sunday night and spread through a parking lot near Navi Mumbai’s Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) market. No injuries were reported in the blaze, which was extinguished nearly eighteen hours later on Monday evening.

The incident was reported at 11.15 pm at the parking lot, situated opposite the main gate of the APMC. According to officials from the Navi Mumbai Fire Brigade, nearly seven vehicles including five trucks, one bus and one JCB were completely burnt in the blaze which spread far and sent plumes of smoke in the area.

“All the trucks were parked very close to each other and there was also a bamboo shed containing coal in the parking lot. Furthermore, there was a lot of breeze and no rainfall, which led the fire to spread very quickly,” said an official.
