'They should let Puffy out now': Ray J on fallout of Diddy trial

(NewsNation) — Ray J argues the two charges for which Sean “Diddy” Combs was found guilty are “bogus” and a celebration will only be warranted once he is a free man.

The popular musician joined “CUOMO” on Wednesday to discuss the fallout from Combs’ acquittal on racketeering and sex trafficking charges, though he was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

“They should let Puffy out now,” Ray J said. “… I see everybody saying it’s a celebration (at his exoneration on the more serious charges), but at the same time, how, when he’s not out yet, and then the last two counts are still super bogus.”

Ray J wouldn’t go as far as some Combs supporters by suggesting he could still face prison time. He was denied bail as he awaits sentencing on transportation to engage in prostitution charges.

As for the sort of abusive behavior described in testimony at the trial, Ray J believes mentoring programs for young entertainers should be more commonplace.

“It gets worse until we create mentorship programs for all of the youth, whether you’re in the entertainment (industry) or not, to try to control yourself as you rise to the top,” he said.

“How do you control yourself when you’re making money, when you’re able to help people, but instead you hurt people? Like, where are the courses for these kind of things?”
