The Mumbai police are on the lookout for three persons, including a private cab driver, for allegedly molesting a 28-year-old woman working at a senior position in the aviation industry.
According to a police officer, the incident took place around 10.30pm on Thursday when the woman was returning home from south Mumbai.
The woman had gone to meet her husband, who is attached to one of the defence forces stationed in south Mumbai. After having dinner at a restaurant, the husband went to work while the woman took a taxi to return to their residence in the eastern suburbs of the city.
As per her statement, after going some distance, the cab driver halted the vehicle and told the woman he will return soon. Within a minute, he returned with two others whom he said he had to drop some distance ahead. While the victim did not agree to the same, the duo got in. The man sitting next to her tried to touch her inappropriately. The cab driver and other accused threatened her against shouting.
As the cab driver saw cops conduct a nakabandi ahead, he asked the duo to flee. He dropped the woman near her house and fled the spot. The woman later called up her husband and informed him about the incident.
The next day, the duo went to the local police station where a molestation case has been registered against the three accused.
An officer said based on the details provided by the woman, they are going through the CCTV cameras along the way to identify the cab.
