FACT BRIEF:Does Kamala Harris support mass amnesty for undocumented immigrants using Social Security and Medicare funds?

Kamala Harris does not support mass amnesty for undocumented immigrants, and has instead expressed support for the 2024 bipartisan border security bill, which would have made it more challenging for immigrants to seek asylum in the U.S. The bill failed to pass the U.S. Senate, with nearly all Republicans and some Democrats voting to block the legislation from moving forward.

Harris has mentioned supporting earned pathways to citizenship for a portion of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants already in the U.S. Studies show that immigration tends to have positive impacts on Social Security and Medicare: More workers are paying in but eligible immigrants tend to use the benefits at a lower rate than native-born citizens.

Harris has also stated that she supports strengthening Social Security and Medicare funding by increasing taxes on individuals in the highest income brackets.
