Australian design firm, Alexander Symes Architect has taken on the renovation project of altering the Cake House. This is a kite-shaped home that is often a local landmark for surfers. The silhouette is shaped and topped with a wedge-shaped roof resembling a large slice of cake when it is seen from the view of the water.
Founder of the studio Alexander Symes explains the design concept, “They felt compelled to purchase it as a local icon and create a comfortable, fun and responsible home for their family and friends. We really just completed the geometry that the building always wanted to be and added additional amenities that are not visible from the street to respect the existing community.”
