Govt School Students Forced to Work Outside During Heatwave

An alarming incident at a government school in Wazirabad has triggered widespread condemnation online, as reports emerged of young children being forced to carry out manual labour during school hours.

Students in second and third grades at Government Girls High School Moti Bazar were reportedly made to unload a trolley filled with mud while exposed to the scorching heat — a task far removed from their educational responsibilities. Video clips circulating on social media show the children, dressed in school uniforms, struggling with physical work under the blazing sun.

The footage has sparked outrage among citizens and child protection advocates, many of whom described the act as a clear case of child exploitation.

Sources from within the school claimed the children were asked to assist due to a lack of available workers, saying the regular labourers were absent that day. “Only a small amount of mud was handled by the students because the workers were on leave,” one official explained, appearing to downplay the gravity of the situation.

Despite this justification, eyewitnesses and residents strongly criticized the school’s actions. “This is not what schools are meant for. These children should be in classrooms learning, not being used for physical labour,” said a local individual who filmed the incident.

The episode has renewed calls for stricter oversight in schools and better enforcement of child rights, particularly in educational institutions where such violations are often overlooked.
