Toxic work culture continues to spark debate across social media, as employees from various industries share personal stories and call out harmful workplace behaviour. Hashtags like #Burnout, #ToxicWorkCulture, and #QuietQuitting have trended globally in recent years, fuelling conversations about mental health at work and employee rights.
The latest incident to go viral involves a woman who quit her job after her manager demanded hospital photos, medical prescriptions, and even her GPS location, all during a family emergency.
According to her now-viral post on X, she had informed her team lead in advance that she would miss a scheduled seminar due to a relative’s cancer surgery. Despite this, her manager allegedly dismissed her explanation and insisted she justify her absence during the emergency.
In a follow-up post, she revealed that the situation escalated. “When I told him he was being disrespectful, he got offended and said I have an attitude problem,” she wrote. “Then he repeated the line ‘Tum ne surgery karni thi?’ (Were you performing the surgery?) at least 20 times and insisted he was right to ask.”
She claimed that the manager shouted at her for nearly half an hour and instructed her to go home, write an apology email, and attach hospital documentation.
“I sent him a resignation email instead,” she wrote.

The post has since gone viral, with many users expressing outrage over the manager’s behaviour and showing support for the employee’s decision to leave the organisation. “Work places are so toxic man, I remember when I asked for the morning off once because my sister was having her first baby and my boss asked why do you need to be there? Will you hold the forceps!? I was soooo pissed! I didn’t even care that I took that morning off!” a user said.
“Done right and should’ve done earlier. More power to you!!” another user commented. “The name of the manager and company alongwith their photos should be in social media to congratulate them,” a third user wrote.
