Memorial service for Cardiff woman Paria Veisi at heart of murder investigation

The event will honour her ‘kindness, selflessness, and the beautiful life she lived’

A memorial service is to be held for a Cardiff woman whose death is subject of a murder investigation. Paria Veisi’s body was found by police at a residential property in Penylan, Cardiff. She had been the subject of a major missing persons’ appeal, after the 31-year-old, who lived in Cathays, was reported missing on Sunday, April 13.

She had last been seen leaving her workplace in Canton at around 3pm on Saturday, April 12. Her disappearance was described by police as “totally out of character,” prompting a widespread search and public appeal.

Her body was found after extensive South Wales Police inquiries.

A memorial service has now been organised in Paria’s honour, on Wednesday, April 23, from 5pm until 7pm, at Bay, Norwegian Church Arts Centre Harbour Dr, Cardiff, CF10 4PA.

A notice inviting people to the service reads: “With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we invite you to a memorial gathering in honour of the kindness, selflessness, and the many smiles Paria Veisi shared throughout her life.

“Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.“We warmly welcome you to join us in remembering and celebrating Paria’s life.

“Your presence will be a great comfort to those mourning her loss and a tribute to the beautiful life she lived.”

A 41-year-old man from Penylan has been charged with murder, preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A 48-year-old woman from Australia Road, White City Estate, London, has been charged with preventing a lawful and decent burial of a dead body and conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

Both appeared before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, April 19, and have been remanded in custody. They are scheduled to appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday, April 22, at 9am.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell, Senior Investigating Officer, previously said: “This brings our search for Paria to a sad and tragic end.

“Paria’s family, all those who knew her, and those in her local community will be deeply saddened and shocked by these latest developments. Family liaison officers are continuing to support Paria’s family.”

DCI Powell thanked members of the public who responded to police appeals for information.
