The court heard that on February 27 police were called to respond to a reported assault on Turkey Shore Road involving Owens.

Officers arrived at the scene and found Owens, 34, who proceeded to violently attack them.

The court was told how Owens lashed out, grabbing one officer by the hair and pulling out a clump, before hitting her in the face.

He then strangled another officer, reports North Wales Live.

Despite this prolonged and violent attack, the officers managed to arrest and detain Owens.

In court he pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, two counts of threats to kill, assault and breach of a criminal behaviour order.

The defendant was sentenced to one year and ten months in prison at a hearing on Wednesday, April 9.

District Inspector Wayne Francis said: “Owens is a prolific offender who was already subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order before the incident.

“We will not tolerate any assault against an emergency service worker whilst trying to do their jobs to keep others safe.

“I would urge members of the public to call out violence towards any emergency worker, who attend work every day to face danger to help and protect you.”
