1 dead in crash involving box truck on 210 Freeway 

A person died after a collision involving a box truck on the 210 Freeway in Pasadena early Sunday morning, according to authorities.  

Initial information provided to KTLA by a CHP spokesperson indicates that the crash happened at 4:15 a.m. on the westbound span of the 210 near Marengo Avenue. 

The spokesperson stated that both vehicles involved in the crash caught fire. One person, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The decedent was not immediately identified by name.

Video from the scene shows that a smaller vehicle collided with the rear of the box truck. The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.

While the entire westbound span of the 210 was initially closed after the incident, crews were able to open two lanes by 7 a.m.
