The Masters 2025 Round 2 LIVE: Leaderboard and scores as Rory McIlroy storms back on day two behind leader Justin Rose

After driving into the bunker on the fifth, Scottie Scheffler manages to get up and down from the sand to hold par.

He stays on course at -5 and is just three back from the leader in the clubhouse, Justin Rose.

After a solid par on 16 when missing the green off the tee, McIlroy unleashes on his driver and smokes his first stroke on 17 right down the middle of the fairway.

The hole is positioned on the front edge of the green today meaning an approach shot from the fairway is ideal.

McIlroy has 149 yards to go and flicks the ball onto the green, hust over the back of the flag.

McIlroy for par… Backs off, spooked a little by the breeze? Wipes his putter on the green.

Back and settled… It’s *bang* in the middle of the hole. Mature from McIlroy and you have to credit him for the difference in demeanour after yesterday’s struggle.

He’ll have company too! McIlroy two back as well, it’s magnificent, two more holes to negotiate and secure a frankly sensational comeback round.

Im with an unforced error, the Korean can’t carry the green on the 15th enough, the backspin takes it into the water. A perilous shot.

Scheffler with another birdie putt, this time on three, but it’s delicate and starts left of the hole and bends back, falling short on the right side. No bother, Scheffler trudges on at -5 and just three back.

Justin Thomas with a horrible putt to scupper hopes of -3 through three, the approach was masterful, a golden opportunity slips away. It’s a tester coming back too, six feet, makes it. He’ll stay at -1.

We switch back to Scheffler… Eagle narrowly misses, but birdie to move to -5. Easy golf.

Back to Rose, in it goes, a lovely save, 71 today and -8. Nice work from Justin.

DeChambeau, laying back on 13, wedge pitches three to four feet away from the pin, but that spins away and now there’s work to do to just make birdie. A different strategy to McIlroy moments earlier. Fortune favours the brave on 13 you could say…

A clear path for McIlroy on 14 from the pine needles, cut off a little and holds with a little left to right movement.

Middle of the green! That’s how you recover, now time to attack with the putter… That for -6 overall and two back… Remarkable.

Fleetwood on 12, for birdie… No. Left it out right. That’s fine though, -3 overall.

Justin Thomas, +1 overall, with a high one over the bunker… IN! Eagle and -1 for the tournament suddenly.

And McIlroy… Oh nooooo! Pushed it, “Four right” he screams. We wait to see the damage.

Scheffler, on two, flirts with the pin and then spins away, but a solid look at birdie coming up.

Bryson, on 13, muscles one down, finds the pine needles… “Again, nooooo!”

A four wood from Rose, nudged down and leaves him six feet for par. Tidy work, but a crucial putt awaits.
