Four men charged with murder after West Quebec home invasion

Four West Quebec men have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 60-year-old woman, who died of injuries she suffered in a violent home invasion in the town of Val-des-Monts last November.

Officers responding to the attack also found a seriously injured man at the scene. The man was taken to hospital.

The woman, identified as Janet Larabie, 60, died of her injuries the day after the attack.

The first suspect was arrested soon after the invasion, two more a week after that and the fourth later on.

Police originally charged each of the suspects with two counts of kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault of the male victim.

The first-degree murder charge was added about 10 days ago, the Sûreté du Québec confirmed Wednesday.

The suspects, aged 30 to 52, are expected to return to court at the end of the month.

Val-des-Monts is in the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais public security territory, but the Sûreté du Québec led the criminal investigation.
