Municipal Corporation of Delhi to celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 | Delhi News

Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khichi of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that the municipal corporation will hold a special event on April 14 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.

In a meeting with the officials on Friday, Khichi directed all departments of Municipal Corporation of Delhi to work in coordination to ensure the programme’s success and complete all preparations on time.

“Today, under the chairmanship of Mayor Mahesh Kumar, an important meeting was held to discuss the preparations for the Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations. The meeting focused on ensuring that the celebrations are grand and meaningful. Senior MCD officials, zonal deputy commissioners, and heads of various departments were present at the meeting,” the Mayor’s office said in its statement on Friday.

Khichi said the event would be an opportunity to honour and remember Dr Ambedkar’s ideas, struggles, and invaluable contributions to social justice.

“Dr Ambedkar taught us the values of equality, fraternity, and democracy, and it is our duty to carry forward his legacy. Through this event, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening his vision in society,” he said.

On the same day, the AAP will also hold Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations at its party headquarters.
