Major Coachella artist cancels appearance

(FOX 5/KUSI) — One of the major artists scheduled to perform at this year’s Coachella Festival has canceled her appearance.

Brazilian star Anitta announced on social media that she was canceling her appearance at the music and arts festival, which is set to happen in Southern California over two weekends in April.

“I was really looking forward to being at Coachella this year, but due to unexpected personal reasons, I won’t be able to perform. I’m truly grateful to the festival for the invitation, their understanding, and continued support,” Anitta said on X.

“I hope to have the opportunity to join you all in the future and share that special moment together,” she added in a second post.

Anitta, often called the “Queen of Brazilian Pop,” is a singer and songwriter whose music mixes several genres, including pop, funk and reggaeton, and she has been nominated several times for Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards.

This would have been her third appearance at Coachella. When she performed in 2022, it was the first time a Brazilian solo artist performed on the main stage.

Anitta is scheduled to perform in the Southern California region in August, with an appearance at the Baja Beach Fest in Rosarito, Baja California.

In recent years, Frank Ocean canceled his own appearance at Coachella, and Kid Cudi had to cut short a performance after injuring his foot.
