At 82, Amitabh Bachchan, an iconic actor of Indian cinema, earned a massive Rs 350 crore in the financial year 2024-25. This substantial income made him one of India’s highest tax-paying celebrities, with a tax payment of Rs 120 crore for the same period, according to various media reports.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Record-Breaking Earnings
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Bachchan’s Rs 350 crore earnings comes through multiple sources, including working in films, advertisement deals, and hosting the TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). His tax liability for the year amounted to Rs 120 crore, making him one of the top tax payers among Indian celebrities.
The veteran actor paid his final advance tax installment of Rs 52.50 crore on March 15, 2025, claims report.
Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan Taxes
Last year, Shah Rukh Khan was India’s top celebrity taxpayer with a Rs 92 crore tax payment. In FY25, Bachchan surpassed Khan’s contributions by nearly 30%, rising from fourth to first in the rankings. Other high-earning stars include Tamil cinema’s Thalapathy Vijay, who paid Rs 80 crore, and Salman Khan, who paid Rs 75 crore in taxes.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Career At 82
Bachchan is currently hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, one of the most-watched TV quiz shows. In the film, he was recently seen in the movie Vettaiyan, with Rajinikanth. The film released on October 10, 2024, received good response from audiences.
He also appeared in the futuristic epic Kalki 2898 AD and is set to reprise his role in its sequel, directed by Nag Ashwin. Additionally, Bachchan will star in Ribhu Dasgupta’s courtroom drama Section 84, promising yet another impactful performance.
